TIGP (SNHCC) -- AIschemia: Acute Ischemic Stroke Lesion Localization with Deep Learning Approach

摘要
Early detection of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) and absolute localization of infarct for planning the treatment strategy has always been a challenging task. Huge volumes of images and clinical data are generated when a brain-stroke patient is admitted to the emergency department of a hospital. Doctors may use varieties of images such as Computed Tomography (CT), Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA), and Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) for diagnosis. Those collected images are highly unstructured and are stored in DICOM and JPG format. Deep learning is part of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that mimics the workings of the human brain in analyzing different formats of image data for use in classifying, localizing, detecting, and segmenting the medical images. In this talk, applications of Deep Learning models will be discussed to localize the lesions of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) patient’s Non-Contrast CT (NCCT) images for classifying and localizing the ischemic stroke infarct automatically.
BIO
Prasan Kumar Sahoo received M. Tech. in computer science from the IIT, Kharagpur, India in 2000. He received the 1st Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Utkal University, India in 2002, and the 2nd Ph.D. degree in computer science & engineering from the National Central University, Taiwan, in 2009. He is a Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, Chang Gung University, Taiwan, Director of Artificial Intelligence & Big Data Computing Lab and has been Adjunct Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology, Department of Colon and Rectum Cancer and Department of Cardiology, Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. He is recipient of Taiwan’s prestigious "22nd National Innovation Award” for his invention on AI based brain stroke detection and is recipient of Taiwan’s “National Universities Smart Innovation and Creation Competition Award” twice. He has been listed as the “World's Top 2% Scientists” both with career-long and Single Year Impacts consecutively for 5 years from 2020 released by Stanford University, USA. He has received the Excellent PhD Thesis award for advising the work on cancer research and has received Top 5% Special Research Talent Award CGU, consecutively for the past 5 years. He is Editor of three SCI Journals. He has executed 47 projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, DST, India, and MOE, Taiwan as PI and has authored more than 100 research articles. He has published 3 books, 9 book chapters and 3 Taiwan patents and has served as Keynote speaker in several IEEE international conferences and is an IEEE Senior member.
